The 30th Annual PAX Poinsettia Sale was once again a successful event. Pi Alpha Xi offered numerous varieties of Poinsettias during the three day event. Popular varieties included “Jingle Bells”, and “Plum Pudding”. The Landscape and Floriculture Forum also offered centerpieces and decorated wreaths to add variety to the sale. The annual Poinsettia Evaluation was also held during the sale. This allows for patrons to see a sampling of up and coming varieties of Poinsettias and provide their opinion. The event was held in the Howlett Hall Greenhouse.
Pi Alpha Xi introduced its Go “Green” with PAX campaign during the sale. Pi Alpha Xi is promoting more environmentally responsible practices. The paper and mailed advertisements were very limited this year. This created a few snags in advertising but a campus wide email campaign during the sale provided adequate customer traffic. All customers were asked to provide their email addresses to eliminate future paper usage. Pi Alpha Xi collected nearly 1,000 email signatures during the sale. Patrons were also informed that there would be no paper type coupons in the future only emails. Planning for the 31st Poinsettia Sale is already underway.
Thank you to everyone that assisted with the event. As many of you know there is months of planning involved with the sale. Numerous current members and alumni helped with the event. A special thank you goes to Mary Maloney for all of her hard work and emailing. Also thank you to the faculty members who volunteered and patronized the sale. The overwhelming number of OSU faculty and staff shows how the university supports student organizations such as Pi Alpha Xi.
